About Us
Project 527
Here at Project 527, our goal is to break the generational cycles of poverty in Guatemala. By partnering with Believe Guatemala, we are able to sponsor children and get them an education so that they can have hope for a successful future.
How beautiful on the mountain are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"
Isaiah 52:7
Our Story
In the spring of 2023, we were privileged to be part of a team from our school going to Guatemala. While we were there, we experienced firsthand the fourth world conditions that the local people live in. This did not stop the locals from thanking the Lord for what they did have. During the mission trip, we were able to help paint a church, run VBS, and distribute food.
A highlight was when we went to visit a Christian organization called Believe. Believe's mission statement is "to eradicate all forms of poverty through God's grace and love, by providing opportunities for education, spiritual growth, health and community outreach programs to impoverished communities in Guatemala." They open up their facilities to the local children every day while their parents are working in the dumps. This provides the children not only with protection but also with the opportunity to learn skills such as washing their hands and writing the alphabet. We spent the day playing with the kids and we shared a meal of pizza with them. There was one little girl wouldn't eat her pizza because she wanted to take it home to share with her family. The reality of how hard their lives were was beginning to sink in. We would be leaving in a couple of days and we would go home to our air-conditioned houses and three full meals a day. These kids wouldn't leave though. This was their reality and it broke our hearts.
When we came home, we kept them in our prayers and we felt led by the Spirit to do something more for them. We began to brainstorm ideas of how we could financially provide for them and we ended up founding Project 527. We have been selling bracelets at our school building and churches, but we are outgrowing these spaces. We didn't realize that our small bracelet fundraiser would turn into what it is now. We are so grateful that we have the opportunity to share our mission and honor the Lord in everything He calls us to do.

Kenna's favorite memory from Guatemala is getting to spend time with a little girl named Suleyca and seeing how she shined Christ's light through her love for others without even knowing it and without expecting anything in return!
Owen's favorite memory from Guatemala is getting to play soccer and share lunch with the kids at Believe because there’s no better way to connect with people than by breaking bread with them.
